Paris Photo 2024

When Mimi Nguyen invited to exhibit at Paris Photo I was like, okay, that's cool, but also random, given I'm not a photographer, not even in my wildest dreams. Yes the ambition was there back in the days, in fact, it was my first act of creativity I took serious in my life, but I never pursued it, but yes, cool, count me in. Exhibition opportunities are there to be taken and I thought this random Photo exhibition would be just a nice fill-up in the portfolio and something that fits my more recent directions.
So it was time to give them some bits of what I would love to showcase and was plenty of work they were interested in, but pretty much my gradients spoke to them mostly. Be aware that there is a selection protocol on what kind of work is allowed and if the exhibitor is actually presenting legit artists.
Still I had no clue what I was running into lol.

My entry

My submission was a simple, yet very complex linear gradient made as part of my Gradient Explorations. Whilest most likely people would consider it simple it still has many interesting tones and especially the part where warm goes to colder tones really spoke to me as an artist and to Mimi as a curator. It still felt weird to submit something as minimal given my work goes all over the place from very complex textures to detailed illustration work.

The crazy surprise

The weirdest thing happened when Mimi asked me that the communication folks from the event asked if they could use my piece for promo purposes. She was over the moon and I said yes sure, why not. Free promo, Yay!

But I never had any idea on how big this event was.. It made it such an unreal experience driving onto the Grand Palais and see my DIGITAL gradient shine on the facade of this majestic building with only 1 other piece of art of what seemed the biggest photo fair in the entire world.
